With the school year wrapping up, I wanted to send a quick note of appreciation for all music teachers. This was a hard year. I speak with hundreds of music teachers every year and many are feeling burnt out, undervalued, and anxious about everything from tightening music budgets to the political climate to AI to frustrations with students / parents / administrators…its a long list. As a small business owner supporting K12 music education, I feel this too.
But there is something that gives me hope. You know the zombie movies or end-of-world movies, even the cute ones like WALL-E, when the earth is scorched and everyone is dead, there is always a scene of someone playing music. These scenes are made to represent the hope of humanity. If you strip away everything else, and get to the core of what makes us human, it is playing and creating music. Even in the darkest of times, there will be music. And we can’t have music without music teachers.
So thank you for all you do. Have a great summer and we’ll see you in the fall.
